| BENEFITS
: FACILITATION |
| |
| Active
facilitators |
The active facilitator usually addresses
one-time or short-term needs. This approach is typically used
to facilitate an event to meet the client’s needs. The facilitator
‘actively’ leads the team through the process to achieve
the desired results.
Generally the client needs to make a decision quickly, solve a
current problem, or find a way for a group of people to work together
to agree on a plan of action. To achieve a specific objective
and deliverable we discuss the issues with the team leader to
ensure that we:
- Address the client’s particular
needs
- Design a specific agenda
- Design specific activities
- Actively facilitate the session
- Debrief/evaluate the session with the
client

| Developmental
facilitators |
The developmental facilitator uses long-term
strategy. This type of facilitator typically combines facilitation,
consulting, and coaching the team to achieve the objectives and
deliverables over an extended period of time.
Generally the client needs more than an event to meet a specific
objective. The facilitator takes a more coaching, rather than
active, role during the actual meetings in order to observe team
dynamics and intervenes in a way that teaches the team members
facilitation skills.
The team learns over time how to facilitate their own processes,
thus eliminating the need for outside facilitators. Our goal using
this approach is to:
- Observe team dynamics
- Intervene appropriately
- Teach the team how to facilitate their
own processes and thus reduce or eliminate the need for outside
facilitation services
- Coach the team members on the process,
roles, tools and techniques before and after the meeting
